Spring/summer 2014, albeit the fact that it hasn't started yet, has already felt like a season a go, all thanks to the confusing nature of fashion shows. Such early presentations of what supposed to be the latest collections then give birth to, shall I say, premature trends, not excluding the trend of flats.

You might as well shout to your screen now as I say that flats are THE trend. (WHAT?!) I know. Flats have been by our side for what feels like forever, and to say that they are in vogue right now is such an understatement. Flats are the saver. Flats are what keep the women going. So why are they in trend just during this very particularly confusing season?

I cannot say that I am against the "trend." The fact that I am a big flat fan and wish that they can come in a sexier, quirkier way than their heeled counterpart only strengthens my argument that women should spend more time in flats. Their ubiquitous appearance on the spring/summer runway only confirms so. For me, it feels like a celebration of a freedom, where walking comfortably triumphs over walking gracefully but in pain.

Thus I can't be more excited to see how flats are going to evolve, from the step sibling to the real star on the style stage. Designers are experimenting with their flats and I am sure that the high-street retailers will find their own way to trickle down the trend. In the mean time, I'll just enjoy the notion that flats are in trend because for me, they are never out of style.

WARDROBE INSPIRATION: Spring Calling

Let's start off with white and pastels. Spring/summer is always a good excuse to peruse bright colours and throw gigantic plastic earrings that will make your day. These two from Marni are bringing the sexy mod back (notice the sheer organza and imagine some bright coloured bicycle pants peeking)-- yet they keep the classic up with the polished hair and pointy shoes going on. The top notch would nevertheless be the colourful collar and white pairings. I, however, do not approve the use of socks. Debatable.

I do get excited when I once more browsed Altuzarra's ready-to-wear, especially with that white shirt as a throw on and perfectly constructed white dress. Strong eyebrows, strappy shoes and sandals are another highlight from the collection, exactly what I would add to my imaginary wardrobe :p The super sleek hair is another lovely addition to the though-looking dresses, an alternative to beach waves that appear too often. One last thing, black still apparently prevails the change of the season. Looking forward to more of it.

Love-Worthy: Stay Sober

Not that I am an alcoholic but this brand Studio Sober has blown my mind. Personally, I am a keen consumer-slash-reviewer of up-and-coming brands, simply because new designers' collections are refreshing and offer unique preposition of fabrics, textures, and shapes that some major brands miss to do so. Aside from that, I assume that emerging brands explore further into their aesthetic, sometimes, psychedelic mind that allows them to present one solid creation.

Studio Sober is a brand I encountered virtually in Lookk with the referral link I found in Shini Park's facebook (my other favourite blogger!). The brand was apparently established in 2009, with the aim to combine "workmanship, attention to details, and a sincere devotion to high quality." 

In their Spring/Summer 2012 Collection, they offer obvious sharp tailoring in pastel colours, ranges from blazer, shorts, skirts, to blouses. The pastel colours mixed with hints of metallic on the shoes and accessories (that metal necklace!) bring the collection altogether, very neat, playful, and classic at the same time. The whole collection is totally versatile, they can be either dressed up or down, feminine or masculine. My wish is just that the whole pieces can go straight into my wardrobe :p
