FASHION SCENE | Sharpness

So this post has actually been planned ever since I received a sweet surprise (an invitation to the show, it was) from Sapto Djojokartiko, a renown Indonesian designer with distinct sense of culture and immaculate details. This time, though, he presented a ready-to-wear collection, after a series of couture and wedding ones.

A missing camera should be an appropriate excuse that the show's photos I took are from my dear Blackberry. The clothes, though, as expected from someone like him, are sharp. Evoking the feminine yet strong aura of a woman, with a dose of cultural influences, Sapto brings velvet red, jet black, and daring gold alive in the womanly shaped dresses and blazers. The see-through skirts are my favourites, dangling the eyes of the beholder to the peeking skin without overly exposing it.

Dark romanticism it is, the story that captures the heart of the viewer and women who wear it. I guess Sapto carries distinct technique in which his ideas are translated sublimely within his designs. There is least doubt that he will make so far as this RTW collection may be the remark of his persistent stamp in fashion industry.

SATURDAY REMIX: Laid Back and Relax

Adjusting to my chill mood today, I brush up some New York Fashion Week most recent looks whilst listening to Phoenix. Oddly enough while I was driving this morning to my German course, the radio played this 1901 number, which makes the whole day feels a little bit better. For your information, Saturday traffic in Jakarta can be so disgustingly messy with careless drivers here and there, so a good song can be a massive help for me--to reduce the whole perennial stress over constant driving in numerous traffic jams.

For a fashion week warm up, I present you some mundane look from Rachel Comey's. The designer who initially started by designing menswear still clearly presents the ease and laid back characteristics of the clothes. I initiated a peek through her previous Spring/Summer collection for more references. Though nothing is really breakthrough here, I quite enjoy the no-fuss look, with well structured blazers, fitted pants, and some breezy dress. For a while I forgot that it is actually a fall look, destined to be worn during chilly weather. The shoes is another pitch for me--thick soled keds, that deliver some casual feeling.

While Comey's past Spring/Summer collection or to say, the one that fills the racks in her store right now, gives similar simplicity sense through the clean cutting and print play. Totally wearable, so now I have to pick  which look I would want to be inspired with for this weekend :p

WARDROBE INSPIRATION: Spring Calling

Let's start off with white and pastels. Spring/summer is always a good excuse to peruse bright colours and throw gigantic plastic earrings that will make your day. These two from Marni are bringing the sexy mod back (notice the sheer organza and imagine some bright coloured bicycle pants peeking)-- yet they keep the classic up with the polished hair and pointy shoes going on. The top notch would nevertheless be the colourful collar and white pairings. I, however, do not approve the use of socks. Debatable.

I do get excited when I once more browsed Altuzarra's ready-to-wear, especially with that white shirt as a throw on and perfectly constructed white dress. Strong eyebrows, strappy shoes and sandals are another highlight from the collection, exactly what I would add to my imaginary wardrobe :p The super sleek hair is another lovely addition to the though-looking dresses, an alternative to beach waves that appear too often. One last thing, black still apparently prevails the change of the season. Looking forward to more of it.
