Forget work and start enjoying life.

I find myself longing for a light, airy, spacious home of my own. It will be the place where I am fully in my skin, comfortable and honest. And these imageries are part of that longing--an imagination now, a reality later. Until then, I am keeping my fingers crossed and at the same time, typing to earn that dream. Happy weekend, everyone!

20.7.13

Without any intention to correlate this post with whatever Kanye related, I do grow to adore simplicity of life--not only in terms of fashion but also in terms of work, love, traffic, everything. Maybe I feel tired with all the incomprehensible level of complicated-ness in life so such desire to have simple things that I can cherish for the longest time emerges. In terms of fashion (bloggers, in this case), Ivania Carpio is easily the beloved one when it comes to toning down the look (hence, the life). Though it is quite compelling for me to live in black, white and gray only, the simplicity of shape and the fact that you can pull anything from your wardrobe without it being totally un-wearable are quite solid points to start gathering my monochromatic tones. And about jewelry? Gold works best and let the rest find their convenient place around the body.

26.1.13

Another mumbling thoughts where some monochrome looks that stand out get lost in the middle of mind soothing tunes. I kinda need it, really. As for why I write so effing short this time, is perhaps because of the tired body that apparently overwhelms my restless mind. I can only keep on saying, something interesting is really happening, I am working on it, even when I am asleep.

Oversized coat and unusual stripes are definitely weekend-to-go. I am having enough sequins and bodycons so a retreat to less colours and more risks sounds perfect. Versatile, they say. Easy, I think. And if some of you have ever wondered when I will stop talking about other's wardrobe and runway perfection, or when I will start taking my own outfit photos. Hold that thought. I am figuring things out because putting together an outfit posts seem so mundane these days, I gotta make the little bastard inside me think.

And so I left you with a perfect song to make out to. Happy blissful Saturday everyone!

8.12.12

Because it is Saturday already and I am starting it by watching Gossip Girl while contemplating about life. I seriously think that the life of the 20s involves tons of thinking, considering, and weighing options--it is natural, they say, but a leap has to be done. Yet again I find my composure in writing and letting my mind off before coming back and pouring thoughts to words. I sniff major decisions will be made within the month of December so cooling down is probably something good to do.

Though I have written a post about black and white photos before, I revisit them this time simply because I find less colours more honest. In a way that our eyes are not distracted by the crowd and sometimes deceiving images, but purely--strikingly to the core of the photos. Writing this, I get sentimental and start contemplating how my life and goals should be in real focus, maybe shutting down some colours will help?

Living as an early twenty means everything around you (me) is moving incredibly fast. One friend flies to another country, the other settles for a marriage. While I am drown in exciting projects and inner revelation. So what else can I feel beside proud and happy? These fashion films are amongst my favourites, flaunting and capturing the very essence of elegance and leaving me smiling.

SATURDAY REMIX | Frightened Eyes

Decided to stay at home this weekend, doing responsibilities but I ain't complain. Despite the hectic and rather unpleasant week, I find slightly rapturous moments in between. Misty, dark, and ecstatic at the same time, music is forever my companion. The soul inclination that is slowly filled with hope for a better tomorrow, though I cannot quite release my anger over what has happened yet. To you, disappearing piece, I owe these songs.

Style wise, I sort of digging the easy breezy look (as usual) without too much fuss. A solid pants, a white top, and something to spice it up i.e. denim shirt and sequin vest are sufficient for me to call it a day. Now I am in quest for killer pair(s) of shoes to wear with everything in my wardrobe and some blouses to save me from my I-don't-know-what-to-wear days.

And to accompany your weekend, go straight to VOCIFEROUS and read the latest interview I did with a talented, yet laid back photographer. It is definitely rewarding to hear someone's inspiration, thoughts, and eventually those add to my (and possibly, your) wisdom.

:)

28.4.12

I haven't really been productive in these past two days besides trying to tame my hair, munching some chocolates, and catching up with Gossip Girl, New Girl, and ANTM--all of which has disappointed me. I have also noted how everyone has moved on with major plans of their life while I go round and round with fear of losing time, without realising that I lose the time by over thinking about everything. So I should stop right here before progressing to endless whining and start talking about fashion, again.

If you are clueless on choosing your weekend wardrobe, I, despite of stay lazing around at home this very hour, would suggest these laid back vision...

...with subtle accessories to go with,

...and a quirky voice of Angus and Julia Stone to accompany.

I have been feeling philosophical these days, trying to grasp the enjoyment of the ups and downs while keeping my dreams alive. So today's Saturday Remix will round up around inspirational quotes and lovable stuffs to jam y(our) Saturday with more positiveness and praises for little unnoticed things.

“Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.” - Terry Pratchett

"When you see how you react when you suffer, that's when you know what you are made of." - Leighton Meester

To close this reflective weekend, this is the tune that brings me to mind journey...

Take care folks!

10.3.12

I have skipped some weeks since these times I am almost always occupied during weekend(s), but here it is another Saturday Remix. There is nothing in particular, I just compile some of the things I feel like wearing/having right now: denim shirt, cozy gray sweaters, and floral suits. I found two of the images among other random images I save in my laptop so I am not sure where I obtained those two.

1: Kneon, 2: Turned Out

And two of my most played songs this week...

Hope you all have a blissful weekend! In the mean time, juice your thoughts with articles from VOCIFEROUS ;)

11.2.12

Adjusting to my chill mood today, I brush up some New York Fashion Week most recent looks whilst listening to Phoenix. Oddly enough while I was driving this morning to my German course, the radio played this 1901 number, which makes the whole day feels a little bit better. For your information, Saturday traffic in Jakarta can be so disgustingly messy with careless drivers here and there, so a good song can be a massive help for me--to reduce the whole perennial stress over constant driving in numerous traffic jams.

For a fashion week warm up, I present you some mundane look from Rachel Comey's. The designer who initially started by designing menswear still clearly presents the ease and laid back characteristics of the clothes. I initiated a peek through her previous Spring/Summer collection for more references. Though nothing is really breakthrough here, I quite enjoy the no-fuss look, with well structured blazers, fitted pants, and some breezy dress. For a while I forgot that it is actually a fall look, destined to be worn during chilly weather. The shoes is another pitch for me--thick soled keds, that deliver some casual feeling.

While Comey's past Spring/Summer collection or to say, the one that fills the racks in her store right now, gives similar simplicity sense through the clean cutting and print play. Totally wearable, so now I have to pick  which look I would want to be inspired with for this weekend :p

SATURDAY REMIX: Crafted

To all the creative and crafty personalities out there, without further ado, today's series feature the hidden link of fashion and food, as well as runway and nails. All pictures are not mine, but without exaggeration, I admire the one who has poured their talents to create such pretty (not so) little thing...

A song to accompany the weekend, inspired by rainy and gloomy Jakarta (even I painted my nails grey :p), with cute and rather saddening animation...

Have a blissful first weekend in February!

21.1.12

Is it Saturday already? For someone who has to make up her mind soon about which occupation(s) she will take, this week has fled on lighting speed--which is an exaggeration, but I do really think that I need more time for everything. Sigh. Obviously my indecisiveness has come in a way, though I feel thankful for being that extra careful person when it comes to making decision. Life is all about two sides of a coin, although so far I have not really seen positive coin side of Jakarta's beyond horrible traffic (come and try for yourself) ;) Enough with the ramble, this time I warn you that the Saturday Remix will consist of future plans and will be closed with one of the best female voices you ever hear. *emotional post is on its way

I have heard it somewhere that, if you keep on repeating what you want, dreaming about it night and day, writing it on a piece of paper, praying for it to happen, and basically LIVING that utopia life you desperately crave for, you will soon get it. Honestly, that soon part requires more--more effort, more seriousness, more commitment, more patience, more endurance, which are not so easy when those hurdles, questions, and tough choices stand in a way (notice how I type so many "way"? not deliberately but I am just having way too many pieces of thoughts ready to explode). Reflecting that principle in my life, writing has been a dear interest of me, where once I pour words and thoughts into meaningful, inspirational, intriguing piece, satisfaction is simply derived out of it; same thing happens as I meet new lovely people or discover "hidden gems." So here is my tonight's prayer:

Dear Universe, I am beyond thankful to have an amazing opportunity to live. I believe that I can be that one hell of a writer and entrepreneur, living that life as an owner of one rad publication and or a fashion/art/lifestyle/culture contributor for a handful of influential publication and travelling around the world to meet amazing talents, witness the beauty of the world, and achieve freedom. Around my loved ones, the dearest people to engage enthusiastic souls in my journey. For I want to leave a mark and simply enjoy each and every moment I have. Amen.

To close this rather-spiritual post, a song from a woman named Sugar Pie Desanto. Not just another woman, she is the one that carries massive talents in singing, dancing, and being witty, she lights that carefree, cheerful, badass attitude in blues. Even until now that she turns old, she still ROCKS it. Watch and learn.

Have a happy weekend everyone!

SATURDAY REMIX: Shine

As Saturday is the time to lounge or laze around, I find myself busier on this day--meeting friends, learning (more) German, and working on my project (which I am excited yet anxious about). Life has indeed taken another turn for me but I would not give up so easily. Enough with the ramble, I am stumbled upon this marvelous (another) pre-fall collection by Prabal Gurung. I mean, man, he's still a newcomer but his collections are almost always impeccable, delivering that je ne sais quoi within the prints, cutting, silhouettes, and even the styling.

And.. two RnB songs that I recently hear and love.. I used to listen to this kind of song a while ago, but later I have been pretty much in search of alternative music and sort of resistant to "popular" music, anyway just listen yourself and decide which one you like better.

3.12.11

I am perhaps that one person who is rather picky about stuffs yet at many times I find myself easily adjusting my taste to any fine, sweet, chic, elegant things I stumble upon, including some nice photographs. Out of the blue my head says "etsy" and the lovely photographs in the site lead me to continual browsing--which is heartwarming and makes me realize how behind every picture taken there is a story, that one thing that perhaps ephemeral at that time but once it is captured, it lasts forever. I really wish I could take these photographs with me but then I am saving money for bigger things ahead. Should you want to browse and/or make some purchase, just go through the link :)

photographs are from here, here, here, here, here (go click! :p)

And lastly, a wardrobe remix I created on Polyvore, an easy one to throw in the spirit of embracing holiday and berries (I know those two will match :p)
