I cannot begin enough with how excited I was when I perused all the pictures from Proenza Schouler's magnetic fall collection. McCollough and Hernandez have clearly set the bar high, attempting to create a new level of silhouette. Although boxy shirts and jackets have been all around the stage these days, where Proenza Schouler put their labels on are hardly ignored. I imagine some kinda of quirky, powerful, and sometimes laid back woman installs her closet with plenty of these.

The white pieces clearly opened the show immaculately, with straightforward jackets, shirts, and leather here and there, forming solid background for the rest of them. I do fancy the white shirt assemble, as the model too has shoulder-length bob and clutches massive tote. Absolute love.

What I think wows the audience the most is this mini skirt in somewhat intricate origami way, being worn that low that makes your upper body appears longer without losing the beautiful legs from the view. It is definitely hard to grasp, I suppose. Later on when I browse more closely, I realize that the skirt is THAT mini, you gotta wear it that way (if you manage to secure one) otherwise it is an exhibition going on (if you know what I mean :p). Nevertheless, the designer duo celebrates the micro mini in a whole different way and you just have to salute them for that. No kidding.

Moving on to the part where I admire the most, and want the most. The quilted jacket with textured leather. Of course. Talking aside from fashion thingy, I'd like to see it more from marketing perspectives. Those guys at Proenza clearly know how to make a girl/woman/lady covets something they have never known that it exists. So I am falling into the tricks and here they are, boxy quilted jacket that at some second I thought belongs to Chanel, will make its way to Fall 2012 must-have list. And the skirt? Yes, I need the red one for my pretentious war with life wanting something I can't have, yet.

Lastly, when they say "Asian" I cannot really comprehend. But these prints explain it all. I can totally portray mighty Mulan going to fight with these beautifully crafted collection. That embellished skirt, for instance, is not something entirely new, but it gives me sense of belonging. And the Asian infused prints cannot just be underestimated. In one elegant-dress-demanded condition, sometimes prints are just what you want to own.

ON RADAR: A Cue from NYFW

Though so far I still perceive the Pre-Fall collection is way more interesting rather than the actual Fall runway (see here and here), I still believe that the gloomy economy will urge the designer to produce something outrageous and memorable whilst there are still hundreds of both established and emerging brands to present. The early trend cue I observe from some of the previous catwalks in New York gratifies a pair of interesting notes, aside from the shapeless coat and leather touch. A kind additional note for you, these are what I actually want to wear should I am given a chance to feel the breeze of fall.

//FURRY SWEATER
Behold cats, the women are stealing your furs. Kidding. I firmly believe these are no cat furs, but the sweaters do look cozy yet fuzzy, especially because these two takes from DKNY and Thakoon pair the fur with skirts. I like these better rather than the fur shrugs since it still covers the upper body well without make you feel like a madame. I am still not sure however, if PETA activists approve--if only these are synthetic.

//RED HUED PATTERN
Featuring the intriguing spider web prints in the Pre-Fall Collection, Helmut Lang presents yet another tough quirky look with all the greatness of red in one. Left, the velvet jacket, draping tops, printed pants and boots, those fiery lava definitely rules. Right, the tuxedo styled suits made of red velvet from Kevork Kiledjian reigns. Fall has never looked so angry hungry (talking about red velvet cupcakes...).

//DARK WRAP
Yes, there are still some more to love from Helmut Lang. These two are the insinuated wrap that I am talking about. Layering at its finest, the usual use of neutrals keep the fall look chic and badass at the same time. Continuing the immaculate spider web inspired pattern, now it is manifested in knits. Additionally, both neck shrugs look warm, with a polished thigh high boots and wide leather black belt, all in dark tones.

//TOMBOY RESEMBLANCE
Proclaiming myself as a tomboy would not hold true, but with those hands in the pocket, lazy eyes stare, and more importantly, classic blazer/coat shape, I cannot just ignore. The only throw I like from Rachel Zoe, displayed left, add some length to the suit look alike, makes it more of a trench. The fedora and black boots simply balance the gray take, make it utterly chic. Meanwhile in Altuzarra, navy and black are paired, with sincere cargo pants and embellished sweater, finished up with glossy black booties. Tomboy at its finest, indeed.

BONUS:
I do not even know how to describe these two. Blazer? Check. Fur? Check. Skirt? Check. That left look fulfills my imagination of feminine, classic, yet unexpected neutral coordinated outfit. The right look proves that sweater, white shirt, and black pants are not boring, are not librarian-ish. Altuzarra owns it.

P.S: I apologize for the rather gloomy tone, am going through some critical phase at the moment...
